Welcome to the virtual home of the Sisters of Swing. We are an all-female swing band based in Bristol.

Our overall mission is to have fun making music and to take music into the heart of the community.

We would love to hear from you whether it’s just with your feedback, or to enquire about booking us, or if you are interested in joining. Have a look around our website and you may find the answers to some of your questions – alternatively feel free to contact us directly for a chat.

Fancy joining us?

We currently have vacancies for a pianist, trumpeter and tenor sax player.

Piano: We need a full time gigging piano player. If you are a competent music reader and have experience of playing jazz chords and ‘comping’ within a large ensemble we would really like to hear from you. If you want to try us out before you commit – that’s absolutely fine. Just get in touch.

On the other hand if you are still developing your skills as a jazz pianist we may be able to offer you an opportunity to be our rehearsal pianist, enabling you to gain experience of playing and comping with a large ensemble until you feel ready to start playing at our gigs. If this is of interest please feel free to get in touch with us to discuss. You can find our email address on the Contact page.

Trumpet/tenor sax: If you can read music to a good standard (eg equivalent to around grade 5/6) and you have experience of playing swing or jazz in a big or small band setting, please get in touch. There is no requirement to improvise.

CDs available!

The Sisters of Swing have now recorded two CDs – one 5-track and one 10- track. The 5-track is available for purchase by digital download from a number of online stores including i-Tunes, Google Play and Amazon, plus many others, or you can buy a physical copy at any of our gigs. You can also listen to the music for free on Spotify.

Copies of both CDs can be purchased at our gigs or if you prefer please contact us and we will get one in the post to you. Payment can be made by cash, cheque or online bank transfer. (Bank details on request).

Samples of some of the CD tracks can be heard on the music page.
